In a Brooklyn apartment, a former nurse clings to her Bible as she cares for her daughter, who has been in a coma for years. When her daughter dies, she forsakes God and goes on a killing spree, believing she can give people eternity through taxidermy.
SYNOPSIS
In apartment 606 of a Brooklyn building, Elisa, a retired ICU nurse, turns to the Bible to cope with the ordeal of caring for her bedridden daughter, Olivia, during the decade she spends in a coma.
At the same time, Elisa continues her work as an animal taxidermist and catches the attention of Alice, a teenage neighbor whose father is abusive.
When Olivia dies, Elisa breaks with God and comes to believe that she can remove people’s impurities and grant them eternity through taxidermy. Elisa believes she is God. The first person to become “eternal” is her own daughter.
In her madness, Elisa kidnaps Alice, holding her captive in the apartment. Detective Amanda, a tough cop, begins investigating Alice’s disappearance, considering Elisa above suspicion.
In a game where Elisa is always one step ahead of the police, several murders occur in the name of faith.
As time goes by, Alice no longer seems like a victim, but rather an accomplice, and thus the film takes on a sinister tone.
THE TAXIDERMIST – a film about the inability to accept death. When faith and religion turn into madness and violence.
